We Were Told to Humble Ourselves and Pray

What do you do, when you can't see anything good in your circumstances? God's Word says, we're to thank Him and praise Him in everything. Paul said, he's learned to be contempt with much and with nothing. I know what this sounds like to many of you, I know the thoughts in your minds, because they've been in mine. Hey this is a day by day battle for me. I've asked God many times, how I'm supposed to be thankful, when I didn't know what I'm going to eat or where I'm going to sleep.

Now is a time for us to be on our faces before God. We need to listen to Him, say nothing and think nothing, just listen. Then do what He says. If He tells us to pray for a person or a place or the government, then we pray as He says. This is what 2Chronicles 7:14 is talking about.

2Chronicles 7:14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (ESV)

"If My people called by My Name", that's us, the ones who are saved. Just because you go to church doesn't mean you're saved, you must have a relationship with the Lord.

We are to "humble ourselves". He wants us to be humble, not arrogant. His Word says, He resists the proud. Our reason for living is to give God the glory through our works and in our praise.

We are told to "pray." Prayer is how we communicate with God, it's how we talk to Him and He talks to us. Our reasons for prayer aren't only to confess our sins, to ask for things, and pray for others, it's also, to hear what He wants to say to us.Our prayers need to be Holy Spirit led. As we spend time with Him in prayer, He is changing us, little by little and the sin in our life becomes less and less.

He also wants us to "seek His face". He wants us to have such a hunger to be with Him, that we'll quietly sit just waiting to hear Him speak and He wants us to do this everyday. He wants our love and our adoration, He wants our worship.

He wants us to "turn from our wicked ways". He wants us to begin living a repentant life, the ultimate goal being no sin in our lives. It isn't impossible for us to stop sinning, but it takes more power than we have. God knew the weakness of the flesh, for this reason He sent His Son. We need to learn to deny ourselves and follow His will to become a new person, a son of God.

In His Word, He tells us what to do and what not to do. We need to spend time with Him in prayer and reading and meditating on His Word. The days are hard and are getting harder. Many people have lost their jobs and their homes, they don't know what to do, they need relief. We should be praying for them, because the day may come when we'll be in the say situation and we'll desperately need relief too.

Father, we need You. Please have mercy on us, because of our stubbornness. We aren't doing what You've told us to do and we're suffering because of it. Please, let us turn from our wicked ways and humble ouselves and pray.

He wondered that there was no intercessor

Jeremiah 27:18 But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon. KJV

Isaiah 59:16 And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him. KJV

Where are the intercessors for today?  We are in the latter days, as spoken of in the Bible and we need intercessors today, more than ever before. Look at the above verses.  It's shameful that no one will stand in the gap for the body, then, or now. There are very few intercessors in the body today. Here's the thing; an intercessor isn't a calling, it's something we ought to do. We are to pray as led by the Holy Spirit, not according to our own wants and desires. Amen.

Luke 18:1-8
1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
KJV

So, here's the reason I'm writing this.  I want to be an intercessor. This is something I've wanted for several years. But, I'm not doing it as I'd like, as our Father would like. I do pray, but not as regularly or as often as I'd like.

During services this morning, our Pastor asked for all intercessors to meet with him after services.  When I saw how few went in to meet with him, I was saddened. So few of us are actually doing what God told us to do. Hey, I'm pointing my finger at me more than anyone else.  I want to intercede for whomever, and whatever God says, but I'm not doing as I should.

The thing is, the days ahead are gonna be very hard.  If we, the body of Christ, aren't walking as we should, what good are we to each other and to those who are yet to know Jesus?

How can we help the Lord in changing their hearts so they will intercede?  The way we help is by praying (interceding), and this we must do with great expectation. If we let the Holy Spirit lead us in our prayers, then our Father will hear us and answer our prayers. Amen.

God bless

Can I Pray For You? Part 2

I want to share what I experienced tonight. I got off work about 22:00. I stopped by a convenient store to get some gas.

While walking in, I saw a woman sitting on the curb off to the side and she called me over. I went in and paid for the gas. When I came out I went and spoke to her. She asked for $6.00 so she could get something to eat at a fish place next door. I gave her $2.00 because I'm broke.

So, I went and pumped my gas, and I couldn't get her off of my mind. I believe the Lord told me to go and pray for her, so I did. I walked up to her and asked if I could pray for her and she said yes.

I squatted right in front of her and she held out her hands. This shocked me, because most people don't know or understand that laying on of hands is fundamental doctrine. It says so in Hebrews 6:2. Also, I've had the Lord put people on my heart to pray for before, and I'm always attacked by fear and sometimes I don't pray for them. I was greatly excited because this time I didn't succumb to fear. I did what our Father said.

So, I took her hands and started praying. I began by praising the Lord and asking for His direction. The whole time I was praying, she was loosening and tightening her grip on my hands. I felt like she was hungry for the Lord. Also, to know about laying on of hands, she must know God, at least some.

When I left, I couldn't stop thinking about her and my friend said something about how I get back what I gave. Yea God. I hadn't even thought about the fact that this was an offering.

Actually Jesus said in Matthew 25:36-40, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto Me.

How cool is that? The Lord was hungry and I gave Him money to by some food, because I did it for one of the least of these. Thank You Father. This was truly an exciting night because I got to experience a victory in the Lord.

I prayed for her and that's all I was asked to do. So, I can continue to pray for her if the Lord puts her on my heart. But the rest is up to her.

God bless

Can I Pray For You?

I was thinking about this girl I work with, she came to work the other day and looked really sad and alone. I asked her if she was ok and she said no, so I asked if I could pray for her and she said it wouldn't help.

Well, there was nothing more I could've done,so I let it go. She'd already decided that prayer wouldn't help. I guess if you don't know God or only know Him in a small measure, you don't know or understand how great He is or what He can and will do.

I hope I'll offer to pray for her again and I hope this time she'll let me, cause I know God would love to have her as His.

See, I sometimes have a problem doing what our Father says. Like when I get an understanding from the Holy Spirit to pray for someone, I'll immediately freeze up, I get scared. Sometimes I overcome fear and sometimes I don't. So, sometimes I do what my Father tells me to and sometimes I don't. This is not acceptable.

2 Tim 1:7 says, " For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. So, when I'm told to do something by our Father, I need to recognize who my Father is, by not allowing the spirit of fear to quench the Holy Spirit in me. I know what I'm supposed to do, but I still mess up.

As it says in Isaiah 55:8-9, His ways are not our ways and His ways are higher than our ways. I'm thankful for this, because every time I mess up, I can count on my Father. He's in control and knows what needs to be done and how much testing it'll take for me to overcome this present evil in my face.

So, all I can do is trust our Father, so when He wants me to pray for someone, I will. I'll simply rebuke the enemy and walk in the doonamis, and exooseah, power and authority, He's given me and speak to the mountain of fear and cast it into the sea, Matt 21:21. Amen.

God bless
