What Path Are You On?

There's a famous poem titled "Footprints in the sand". This poem describes a person's daily walk with the Lord. Sometimes there are two sets of footprints and other times there is only one set of footprints. This simulates how Christ is carrying us at the hardest times in our lives.

When we're walking in obedience, it's not us, it's Christ in us. We can't do it on our own, we don't have the power. It's not our call, to walk in righteousness on our own, we're called to emulate Christ, to do as he did. Jesus said if you want to come after me you must deny ourselves, take up your cross, and follow me. We are to follow him, not walk beside him.

Though we are joint heirs with Christ and though he calls us friend, we will always follow him. He's our savior, he's our example. he's our mediator, he's our lord, he's our king, he's our everything. And we will always follow him. The facts is, we are followers of Christ. And if we're walking in obedience, you won't see two sets of footprints, because we'll be walking in his. Also, lets not forget this, we're all covered by his blood. We all have the same opportunities because of what he did. We can do nothing right on our own, but we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

One thing we're told to do, actually, the greatest thing there is, is to love. We are to love as Jesus loved. We have the word love in our lives, but without allowance of the Holy Spirit, we don't really know what love is. The true love that Father loves us with is a selfless love, agape love. So I guess the thing we need to learn to do and do like Christ is to love. And I don't mean to love your family or friends or people you go to church with, though they're important too. What I mean is to love the homeless, the haters, the gangsters, the lost. In my mind this is a tall order, one I can't do. But, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I had a thought and wanted to share it.
Psalm 119:105 says, Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. At first thought, this means spend time in the word; reading and meditating. No doubt, that's very important, but I think this verse refers to  Jesus. He is the word made flesh and every step he takes is in righteousness. So, as we walk in his steps and keep our eyes on him, our eyes are opened up to the path of righteousness, because his steps light up the path for us to follow.

God bless.

Simple Obedience

We are always tempted by the enemy, God turns these temptations into tests. As hard and difficult as they sometimes are, we must always put God first. We say, to God be the glory, this should be our way of life, not just some cute little thing we say. God's glory is EVERYTHING and is what we should be seeking, ALWAYS. We are the hands and feet of the Lord, everything He does own earth, He does in and through us. There are many different parts of the body, yet only one body. Each part of the body compliments the other and when operating in unity, works like a well oiled machine, actually, like a body. When one part of the body hurts, the rest feel it, when one part of the body makes a mistake, the rest suffers. Our goal should be, to do what He says. If something drastic happens, though the rest of the body feels it and suffers from it, they must keep doing there part or else the body will stop. For example: If someone breaks a finger, the hand will feel it and be tender, the other fingers will feel it and be cautious, but they must keep doing their part.

We are children of God, when one of us falls or suffers an attack, the rest will feel the pain and suffer loss, but we must keep going. Many will pray and some will intercede, because it's their calling, it's their job. The other parts of the body can't take a day off, because one got hurt. This is simple obedience, to do what God says. This is an elementary doctrine, to obey God.

This is what I want, simple obedience. I want to do what God says, always. I don't care about some great calling or gift. I want God to use me how He will, when He will. I want to be someone God can count on. When He tells me to do something, be it great or small, I want to be one who will do it. I want to obey God. I believe I have some obedience, though, I'm far from where I want to be and where, I believe, He wants me to be.. I'm trusting God to bring to the place He wants me and it'll be by His power, not mine.

I pray God will bring us all to the place, where our desires are simple and selfless, they are to obey God and everything He says. Amen.

God bless

A Man After God’s Heart

Acts 13:22 And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king, of whom he testified and said, ‘I have found in David, the son of Jesse, a man after my heart, who will do all my will.’ (ESV)

To begin with, I want to be a man after God's heart. I want God to think of me and say, "In Wesley, I have found a man after My heart." My wife says, I'm already a man after God's heart, well, she's biased, I mean, hey, she's my wife and she loves me. Thank you Honey, I love you, too. To be a man (or woman) after God's heart, means everything we do, is His will and we're obedient to His Word. Well, I'm not that guy, yet, of course, with that logic, I'll never be one and I should quit now. This kind of thinking, also makes the sacrifice of Christ useless, because, that's saying we don't need His grace. So, I'll just keep wanting to be that man and leave the rest to God, He is Almighty and has the power to bring me to that place and this I'm thankful for. AMEN!!!

Ok, so why do we go to church?

Is it to escape hell, this is a good reason, or is it to serve God, this is a much better reason. Is it to meet girls/guys, not good, maybe for business or appearances sake, also, not good. Is it because it's expected of us or maybe, your spouse or parents make you, etc, etc, etc. The reasons why people go to church are many, but there is only One true reason for going to church, to have intimate relationship with God. Hey, if you go to church for any reason other than intimacy with God, don't stop, because He's has the power to bring you to this place and I pray He will.

Other reasons, may cost you eternally and you may hear from Jesus say, "I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness." (Matt 7:23)

I pray God will, in His infinite mercy, bring you to a place of total surrender, so that you will endure to the end, and be saved, so He can use you and your name will be written in the Lambs book of Life.

People have opinions of how christians should look, dress, behave, etc.

To begin with, we should look and behave like the One we're following, Jesus. If we don't, then we need to check ourselves and examine our motives. We can fool each other and we do, but no one can fool God. He knows our hearts and intents, so don't think going to church is a way into heaven, but don't quit either, like I said, God is powerful enough to change you.

I've wondered what people think, when they see me? I wonder, because I want to be like Christ and I know we preach more with our actions, than with our words. I wonder, if anyone wants what I have or wants to be like me, the Christ in me. All who believe in Jesus are His witnesses, but I want to be a good witness to Christ. I want people to see my good works and glorify my Father in Heaven (Matt 5:16).

People think I'm funny, of course God isn't glorified by that, I sure hope He likes to laugh though. I can see me making Him laugh and His response would be ROFL. ROFL means, rolling on floor laughing.

I'd love to make God laugh. Hopefully, I already do.

God bless.
